Remembrance Day has special meaning at Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute

Danforth CTI Remembers!
As Remembrance day is fast approaching and DanforthCTI students will be actively learning, participating and remembering. Here is excerpt from the InsideToronto article (November 4, 2015).
Remembrance Day has special meaning for the students and staff of Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute.
The east-end high school, which opened its doors in 1923 as Riverdale Branch Technical School, holds the unique distinction of having the most students and staff members to serve in the Second World War in the British Commonwealth. A total of 2,235 members of the Danforth Tech school community actively served in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945. Sadly, 241 didn’t make it home.

Unique to this year’s assembly is a special contribution from one of Danforth Tech’s visiting student teachers, Ethan Childs, who has arranged to display an extensive selection of uniforms and other items from Canada’s involvement in the First World War and Second World War and other conflicts during the last century. Many of these items will be on display at the assembly as well as in a designated classroom. Childs will also be doing a series of brief talks on Canada’s involvement in the conflicts.
