Course Selection Fair @DanforthCTI

Our annual course Fair was held in our cafeteria on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016.  Our course fair follows our course selection assemblies, and is a great opportunity for students to get information and ask questions about programs and electives that they may be considering for their 2016/17 program.   We had some great informative displays this year, including some hands-on activities such as the auto body paint simulation program, auto service tire changing station, and a cake decorating station.  Students and staff were also serenaded by some members of the student composed ‘symphonia’ band.

Danforth students were fortunate to meet Andrea (see photo below-left), Anthony (centre) and Billy (right) from the Eastview Neighbourhood Community Centre (ENCC), a non-profit organization located in the East End of Toronto. The Centre has and continues to serve our local community children and youth through a wide variety of:  sports, social recreation, health and nutrition, leadership, life skills, educational arts and cultural programs and activities.

DanforthCTI Visits The Ontario Science Centre

The photos below were taken Wednesday, January 20th. Mr. Paul Weight and Mr. Paul Turnbull brought 20 students from three of Danforth's grade 9, 10, and 11 science classes to the Ontario Science Centre.
It was a day full of learning and exploration.....along with building and design! Most of the photos are during a special session we had with a teacher at the centre. The teacher had us run a variety of water tests on lake water and ground water. She then  challenged our students to make an apparatus that draws water from a makeshift well they had set up. Our students could only use material that the Science Centre had kept from entering their garbage bin! True to the Danforth spirit, the students embraced the challenge and discovered which design and materials worked best.
All who went on the trip enjoyed the exhibits and engaging activities. Two of our stars would say they had an experience that was 'out of this world'

Table Tennis Tournament Staff vs Students

On Thursday, January 28th the DCTI staff came back from behind to dethrone the students in the 2nd annual Staff vs. Students Table Tennis Tournament! The competition was a nail biter to say the least, with lots of skill and effort on both sides. As usual, age and experience triumphed over youth.
Students, enjoy seeing the trophy being paraded around the school by your super-athletic staff!
As the Maple Leafs often say, there's always next year.....
