Black History Month Assembly February 26th

The theme of this year’s Black History Assembly was “Hold on to Your Dreams and Never Let Go” as captured in Langston Hughes’ poem.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

For this  year’s assembly there were musicians who played Herbie Hancock’s Chameleon, Shania Bascombe who sang, 'When I look at you', and we also had a Guinness World Record setting rapper Duane Gibson who engaged Danforth CTI students with positive message to defy the odds (DO). Our assembly ended with a tribute to a former teacher of Danforth, Mr. Bairu Sium.
